Sailing with Six: Learning Photography on the High Seas

When we say our courses can go anywhere, we mean anywhere—even the middle of the ocean!

The Fothergill family, originally from the Gold Coast, Australia, have been living full-time aboard their sailboat since early 2019. Parents Kris and Shona, along with their four adventurous kids—Bella, Finn, Archie, and Pippi—have spent over five years homeschooling while sailing through the South Pacific, Southeast Asia, Mexico, and beyond. We first connected with Bella when she joined our Photography course—and she quickly wowed us with her enthusiasm and talent:

Not only did Bella embrace the course, she later won our FS4T Photography Contest, capturing stunning images using her sailboat backdrop.

They also shared a video interview answering questions about homeschooling at sea and pursuing creativity while living aboard. It’s as inspiring and real as it gets.

We’re incredibly honored to count Sailing with Six in our FS4T community. Their experience shows that true learning can flourish anywhere—even under sail.
